Oklahoma Southern Rock Band, Hillbilly Vegas returned to Newcastle last night (27th November) with a stunning performance in front of a packed house at the city’s famous rock bar, Trillians.
The six-strong band rocked out some of their top tracks such as ‘Shake it like a Hillbilly’, ‘High Time for a Good Time’ and their latest hit ‘Let it Ride’ which has just reached No:10 in US Billboard Rock charts. According to lead vocalist, Steve Harris, the band received the exciting news during their UK tour welcome dinner with Conquest Music the previous night.
The band was supported by rising UK Rock band, Thieves of Liberty who opened up the evening with a powerful set much to the pleasure of the Newcastle crowd.
Hillbilly Vegas also featured Lorraine Crosby on stage, famed for the duet ‘I’d do anything for love’ with the late rock legend, Meat Loaf celebrating her birthday.
The Oklahoma Rock band recently suffered a devastating fire at their music HQ caused by a falling power connection started the fire, which spread throughout the structure and destroyed more than 60 antique guitars and amplifiers, as well as other priceless items. Prior to the gig, guitarist Stacy Thornburg spoke to NE Guitars Magazine editor, Paul George about the incident and the irreplaceable losses and of his anguish of losing a life time collection. However, he also expressed his relief at the fact nobody was injured in the blaze although the band were do to be in the building but were delayed.
HBV will perform another three venues around the country before returning back to the US.
