In a recent interview’ Queen guitarist Brian May, 78, made it clear that he doesn’t think a tour of the US is a good idea right now.
“America is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account,” he said. “It’s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it’s not what it was. Everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment.”
May also said that the band would not perform at the Glastonbury Festival due to his stance on animal rights.
“I wouldn’t do Glastonbury next year because of the politics of the people who run it, unless that changes, I won’t do it,” he said. “They like killing badgers, and they think it’s for sport and that’s something I cannot support because we’ve been trying to save these badgers for years, and they are still being killed for years, so that’s the reason we’re missing out on it.”
The surviving members of Queen — May and drummer Roger Taylor — last toured the U.S. with “American Idol” alum and singer Adam Lambert in 2023.
Sir Brian and Queen drummer Roger Taylor have been touring with American Idol alum Adam Lambert since 2012 under the Queen and Adam Lambert moniker. May said recently ‘I don’t know when Queen will be back on stage – it’s an unknown. We’ll take it day by day.’
Hinting at new music, Sir Brian said: ‘It was time to take a break and spend time with family, take stock.
